Year R celebrate Chinese New Year

Year R celebrate Chinese New Year

Year R enjoyed learning about a new culture and celebration this afternoon. We learnt about why each year is named after a different animal through listening to the Chinese Zodiac story. We also learnt about China as a country, and how to prepare and celebrate Chinese New Year.

We then went outside and had great fun watching and taking part in a Chinese dragon dance before exploring lots of multi-sensory experiences and creative activities in the classrooms. These included, investigating noodles and coloured rice, making New Year cards, money envelopes and hats, and creating Chinese dragon puppets.

To finish off our day, we had a Chinese feast! We tried tasting noodles, vegetable spring rolls, rice and fresh lychees for pudding! Yum!
