Pattern of Entry

Pattern of Entry

The aim of our pattern of entry is to ensure all children become happy, confident and secure at school, therefore our induction reflects this by building on routines.

Week Beginning 7th September – 8.55am – 12.00pm

This week your children will become familiar with their new school, teachers and friendship groups. They will also learn morning routines and the structure of the school morning.

Week Beginning 14th September – 8.55am – 1.00pm

This week your child will experience and establish the lunchtime routine, this will include choosing their lunch, developing their independent skills by collecting their lunch and sitting in the school hall. At the beginning of the year, Year R staff will be available to support the children.
After lunchtime your child will be able to play on the playground with the rest of the school children.

Week Beginning 21st September (and from this date onwards) – 8.50am – 3.20pm

This week your child will experience a full day of school life, learning and building on morning, lunchtime and afternoon routines.

We feel this pattern of entry allows children to build on routines at a steady pace but also inducts them into school life quickly. We understand that some children may need to have a more flexible pattern of entry, we work closely with you in partnership to establish what is best for your child. Please discuss with your child’s teacher.
