Autumn 1 – Once Upon a Time
This half term the children have settled into their new classes and routines brilliantly. We have worked on encouraging the children’s independence and given lots of opportunities for them to practice this.
We are now exploring our new topic, ‘Once Upon a Time…’. The children have enjoyed finding out all about the characters in traditional tales such as Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
We started off the topic by going on an exciting Fairy Tale Walk to discover hidden fairy tale objects around the garden. We then discussed who they belonged to and which story they had come from.
We then had a CSI Goldilocks crime scene where the children had to look for clues to see what had happened and then make WANTED posters to find the culprit.
We are looking forward to our concluding Fairy Tale Dress up day this Friday where the children will take part in a Fairy Tale Catwalk, to show off their super character costumes!
